Friends of Haiti seeks to
raise funds to assist Haiti with its future
We would like to invite all interested
persons to participate with us in support of a very worthwhile
cause. Our objective is to motivate the Haitian population
into growing potatoes, beans, rice, sugar cane, bananas and
various vegetables. We are working hard towards the planting
of ten thousand or more trees during the next five years to help the
hurricane battered countryside. It is estimated that today only 5% of the
original forest of Haiti remains. Haiti Needs Our Help
Now!
Friends
of Haiti.
Haiti
is the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere. Sociologists,
ecologists, and economists alike see Haiti as a "nightmare gone
bad". Factors such as high infant mortality,
disease, illiteracy, poor education, over population, deforestation,
soil erosion, rapid urbanization, high unemployment and a weak
infrastructure, all combine to bring misery to the people of
Haiti.
The Friends
of Haiti is looking to support
several community agricultural
programs and projects in Haiti.
In addition, Friends
of Haiti is
crafting a response to the disastrous floods and mud
slides with over 2000 people are dead or
missing. Your gifts assure these efforts will succeed. Work
with us to make a
difference!
